Happy Dance Campaign

Happy Dance, Kristen Bell’s CBD skincare line - called for bright, eye-catching content that captured the brand’s easy, playful energy.

Under the direction of Andrew Manser at Pigeon Road Productions, and alongside one of the most considerate producers you could ever hope to work with -  PJ Lungren, the concept leaned into bold, fun scenarios with a strong graphic quality.

The hero set centered around a monochromatic collection of bathroom objects, designed to sit behind the product’s signature purple and yellow packaging. There’s a special place in my heart for using materials in ways they were never intended, and this project delivered on that.

In searching for the perfect match to the brand’s colour palette, I found an unexpected solution: road striping paint. Thick, ultra-matte, highly durable and, crucially, the exact rich yolky yellow we needed. Without the time to custom mix and scenic-finish multiple props, this became the most efficient and effective approach.

The day before the shoot, I coated everything - hairbrushes, glass jars, ceramics, mirrors, faux florals, hair clips - transforming a mix of everyday objects into a cohesive, saturated visual field. On camera, the finish read as velvety and lush, with no trace of its industrial origin.

It was a genuinely fun set to be on, and very little went to waste. Many of the painted pieces found new homes with the client and crew, with the remainder returned to their original sources.
