Painting it pink for tmobile
100’ of artificial ivy over a brand pink warehouse wall.
Painting the side of a building pink isn’t as simple as it sounds - unless you have the right team.
The wall, located in Vernon just south of downtown Los Angeles, was owned by a studio with one key requirement: it had to be returned to its original white once we wrapped.
My friend and expert collaborator Dayne Oshiro suggested we use frisket paper to cover the windows entirely, treating them as part of the wall. It was a game-changing decision. Instead of spending hours carefully taping frames, two painters were able to move quickly with spray guns, completing the transformation in just one day.
But the pink façade was only the beginning. The wall was also to be dressed in over 100 feet of artificial ivy. After an extensive search across the city, we decided it would be more efficient, and give us greater control, to build the environment ourselves rather than find an existing location. With a full parking lot to shoot from, we avoided street closures and pedestrian traffic entirely.
Installation of artificial ivy for tmobile
The team at GreenSet, constructed large-scale nets of faux ivy, which were rigged from the roof and draped down to completely cover the freshly painted wall, leaving one exposed roll up door for a pop of pink. The result was a totally believable, fully controlled, fully on trend back drop.
There were several goosebump moments on this project. Seeing the sheer scale of the wall washed in pink was one, but the real magic was in the reset. Walking away from a fully restored white façade, it felt as though the entire transformation had never happened.
For a later set up, I commissioned a custom handmade sofa in T-Mobile’s signature hot pink. The clients loved it - there was even talk of shipping it out of state. In the end, it stayed local, and found its way to me. It now sits in my home as a reminder of what’s possible with the right team, a clear vision, and an existing color palette, accepting of a hot pink sofa.
